This morning I head over to Woodnewton pottery to collect my face pot. Unfortunately it was damaged due to firing; an air bubble trapped in the layers of lay caused a section of the face to blow away. On the plus side the break was very clean and it seems like it will be relatively easy to fix. I decided to take it away with me and finish the repairs and decorations at college as it has been tricky to organise travelling back and forth to the pottery. However I still intend to decorate it, hopefully with oxides or glaze available at college. An alternative would be to use acrylic paint and apply a clear varnish to avoid a second firing though I think it would survive. I hope to take my spittoon pot to the pottery still to glaze it as I’d like to have explore that side of ceramic techniques too.
